Jumpin' Beans Day School, LTD - "Quality Care While You're Not There"
Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to help create in your child an awareness of his/her environment, physical capabilities, and to further develop the ability to think for him/herself.  In doing this, we take each child's individual needs and abilities into consideration as he/she is nurtured, embraced and stimulated to reaching his/her full potential through our developmental approach to learning in which every child is given the opportunitiy to succeed.

We believe that our philosophy is reflected in our program.  Since we are caring for your child in your absence, we feel that it is necessary for us to encourage learning through active participation .  We believe that is is our responsibility to facilitate children's growth by modeling respectiful behavior in the learning community.

Our center meets or exceeds all guidlines as set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health and is licensed by the State of Connecticut.  Our license number is #13763.

Infant: The first year of your child's life is when the child learns to develop a feeling of safety and security in the world and in their environment close to them.  This basic form of trust develops responsive, predictable care from individuals who are familiar and whom a child has an attachment to.  Without this sense of trust, the world can be quite frightening to a child, and therefore inhibit their want to learn.  It is through this trust that a child learns to accept and understand their surrounding and the concept of cause and effect.  We have the firm belief that through consistant, nurturing and individualized care to infants and toddlers, they will learn that the world can be predictable and that they have so much to learn and explore.

This is also the time of development when children gain their own sense of power and realize that they have the ability to make things happen.  When this feeling is apparent, a young child has the ability and desire to step out into the world ready to learn, solve problems and accept what may or may not occur.  By giving children choices and the opportunity to learn new things, it becomes apparent to them that they are people too and they can make a difference in the world around them.  At our center we strive to give the children opportunities to succeed.

With loving care, our trained, experienced staff provide activities, which are appropriately stimulating for sensory and development in infants.    Infants need to be able to view the world from many different angles; each child experiences this in our program.  This includes, but is not limited to: rocking, outdoor/gross motor play, crawling, being carried, riding in a stroller or just being held and sung to, loved.  Each one of these opportunities gives young children a new perspective  on the world.

Toddlers: Toddlers need to have the opportunities that promote their creativity, social skills, verbalization, and encourage them to be more independent while increasing their self-esteem.  Everyday we help our toddlers succeed in learning new ways to overcome obstacles and master new skills.  We have a developmentally appropriate curriculum, which allows for dramtic play, block building, music and movement, science/sensory, math/munipulative, art and pre-literacy.  We use the baby can read program with this age group.

Preschool: Children are generally most responsive to activities in which they are encouraged to approach in a hands-on mannor.  Our program is designed with learning centers, which children can independently choose to do, and the children generally decide the duration of their play.  We have a weekly theme inwhich we focus and build on.  Preschool children are prepared for kindergarden by the time they leave our center with a wonderful preschool program.  They also engage on learning how to write, know their address and phone numbers, recognize letters , numbers shapes and so much more. Dance is also provided by Judith Parks Academy of Dance once a week.  We say the Pledge everyday and also Thank God for the food we are about to eat each day.

Parent Involvement:  Parents are heavily urged and encourage to show their interest and give their support in the development of their child during the years they spend at Jumpin' Beans.  It is a major part of our philosophy as a center to involve the families as much as possible.

We have an open door policy at our center.  Parents are welcome to visit at all time whether it is just to say "Hi," or to join your child at meal times.  This is particulary accommodating to nursing mothers.

Family-Center Relationships & Communication: You and your child are very important to the staff at our center.  Please feel free to stop and talk briefly about your child's day with staff members.  If they are unable to answer an inquiry, they will direct you to the proper source for information.  In return, parents are encouraged to send notes here to staff members with information that might be necessary for the staff to know.
